Sponsored Ride 2013 – the GR5
This years’ sponsored ride will soon be upon us. Ade and I set off in the van this Friday 8th for the 2 day trip via Geneva in Switzerland to the start of the GR5 in Thonon les Baines, France. The rest of the lad’s fly into Geneva on Saturday evening and transfer to Thonon.
Over the next 8 days we travel the full length of the French Alps taking in some of the toughest mountain passes along the route, including: Col de le Colombeire; Cormet de Roselend; Col de I’Isearn; Col du Galibier; Col d’Izoard; Col du Angel; Col de Vars; Col du Bonnette.
We finish in Nice, South of France on Sunday 16th June.
Keeping with our tradition of supporting good local causes we are donating all sponsorship monies collected this year to the KTS Academy, an all-age special needs school in Cleveland.
Donations can be given to the riders direct or online at our MyCharityPage.com
More information about this year’s route can be found here and I will be doing the usual daily blog as the ride progresses.

Best of luck, hope the passes are open by the time you all get there! Remind Steve (Keenan) that phones can still work in France! Claire 😉
