Comment: Santo Domingo de la Calzada is situated on the banks of the Oja River. Its name refers to its founder, Dominic de la Calzada, who built a bridge, hospital, and hotel here for pilgrims on the Way of St. James.
The ancient streets of this smallish town evoke the spirit of the Camino and the cathedral was first built in the 12th century. A great place to explore on an evening after the rigours of the day.
